The essay in the beginning about Jackson Pollack is kind of random so I recommend skipping it if you really want to enjoy the book and then maybe go back to it later if you want.
I thought some of the essays in this book were inspiring. Really just beautifully written. Essays on the Blurring of Art and Life. Bought this a long time ago, read it then and recently thumbed through again. But when some of us have worked in natural settings, say in a meadow, woods, or mountain range, our cultural training has been so deeply ingrained that we have simply carried a mental rectangle with us to drop around whatever we were doing.
