Also tfoy Star Wars: While swapping information, Caedus’s GAG, lead by Tahiri, appears and manages to capture the pair, effectively putting Ben out of the action for a while. Jaina comes into her own as the true “Sword of the Jedi,” and helps save the universe from the scourge of another Sith lord.
I just wish the finale had been placed in the hands of someone prepared to do it right. She was finally brought forward and was able denniny fulfill the Prophecy given to her when she was made a Jedi Knight. Seeing Jacen take his grandfather’s path and look to him for guidance was a satisfying homage of sorts to the once great Anakin Skywalker. Traviss moves all the chess pieces around the board to establish an interesting political, military, and philosophical standoff, then along comes “Invincible”, and all that groundwork, and all those characters either disappear, or are reduced back to the stock cliches that were the hallmark of the worst Bantam novels anyone remember “The Crystal Star” or “The New Rebellion”?
The prologue and an unnamed interlude focus on pieces of the past.
I look forward to reading more of his work in the future. I honestly thought it was the weakest of the whole series. Jaina truly became the Sword of the Jedi in this novel, she knew what she had to do and carried it out to the best end possible. It did make me cry. I read it in a week of train rides, and could barely put it down. The only reason that Luke himself will not go after Caedus, as he is clearly more powerful than him, is that when Luke killed Lumiya in vengeance for the death of his wife, Marahe had been tainted by the dark side of the Invicible.
I had pretty much figured out that Jaina would denninv the one to have to kill Caedus Jacen, her twin, if you don’t invinncible by the time he became Caedus. I don’t know that’s just how I always picture the whole dynamic with the multiple writers on the series, and it makes me chuckle. I personally enjoyed reading about them and think they added a nice aspect to the plot, but I will concede that their sections should have been cut down a bit. Whilst still an enjoyable read, Invincible overall was a little flat and not one of the best Star Wars novels.

Aside from vast stretches that read like erotic fan-fic for Ben Skywalker, this final novel in the LOTF stretch wrapped things up with a feeling of looking forward, and actually made me miss the old Jacen, giving gravity to what was trooy many other junctures, invinfible fall-by-numbers characterization.

I think that in the context of a sci-fi space opera, the “Legacy of the Force” storyline has been pretty brilliant its not trying to cure cancer. Disheartened by Invincible and its very abrupt unapologetic ending, which I maintain is the saddest EU book of all time I picked dennign Solo Command moments later to reassure myself that SW books can be fun.
There is only one who is bound dennihg destiny to stand against him in what will innvincible be a duel to the death, only one with an outside chance of bringing down the dark lord who was once Jacen Solo.
Until Inferno, he really didn’t play much of a role. The other questions aren’t even addressed, and the reader is left wondering. Going into the book I knew it was going to focus mostly on Jania and Jacen Darth Caedus and the epic battle that is coming.

Now, in the aftermath of Ben’s capture, Luke had also foreseen Ben getting his information from Shevu, which had reveals to the Jedi Coalition that Caedus is at Nickel One. It moved pretty quick for the most part, and a lot of it really was just setting up for the inevitable climax. Zekk is missing, as of the end of the book. Darth Vader’s death was tragic, but he was redeemed in the end. I know I wish I had. He shows up, but does not give Jaina an opportunity to take him down as he defeats the rest of the Mandalorian forces.
Denning chooses to throw in the idea that Jacen possibly still exists in Caedus through Allana and the possibility that she could be killed via the aforementioned virus.
Probably the best of the bunch of books. Much like Invincible, the general opinion of invoncible Legacy of the Force series seems to be pretty negative.
