The stories of John’s personal life were a great interest to me because I have read his other books, “Marley and Me” which showed me 13 years of his life and “The Longest Trip Home” which documented his upbringing, his meeting of his wife and beyond “Marley and Me” itself. Not very many dog stories in here.

I like Grogan’s writing style and wit. That’s how I came to know John Grogan. Grogan’s column observes the obvious, and by the end was getting a bit tedious.

Not so, few of these stories are funny, and fewer still are about animals. Want to Read Currently Reading Read. Now don’t get me wrong, this is not all sappy but rather a great mix of life in general. The book was made up his articles for the Inquirer that they put together in book format.

Perhaps getting a great college or University education, maybe married and starting their own family. A good book to read in between some heavier books. I was ecstatic when I saw Grogan’s new book out on the library shelf. I’m glad I read it. There are some cute and funny stories in this book, but not all of them involve dogs.

Bad Dogs Have More Fun is an unforgettable collection of more than seventy-five newspaper articles from The Philadelphia Inquirer written by former columnist John Grogan. When I was training for a marathon this last summer, my roadside companion was an ipod with books downloaded on it. And it is clearly stated that John Grogan gets zero profit.

Felix was a cat who was lost at the airport in Philadelphia and never found.

I did like Arte Johnson’s reading of this book very much, though. Both had diverte same qualities about them that made cachofros seem more human than canine–an ability to sense emotions, a fun loving attitude, dancing, laughing, smiling.

I don’t know if he has since then, the story was written inbut I found out about it 2 days ago. Definitely not as good as Marley and Me, but it holds its own. These articles tied up loose ends. The day after Christmas, what child could forget, especially when a tsunami wipes away islands. I understood the words that John Grogan used to define these events and what it did to our views and beliefs.

A story about people who held a funeral for a homeless woman, after tracking down her identity, a story about a tow-truck driver who helped a dangerously-ill woman get to the hospital, a story about a cancer survivor who opened a store that sold wigs and breast prostheses.

It even includes the beginnings of Marley and me by including his goodbye note to Marley. This is her legacy to us. To have a loved one, vanish at the mistake of strangers, it makes my blood boil.


No update on whether the cat was found? The dull sense of loss that firmly grabs the attention of any reader is like when a character in a movie or book dies, even if that character is entirely fictional. I hugged my own cats and went to sleep, still uneasy for another couples lost family member.

If you have had maais choose only one book to read by Grogan, I’d definitely pick Marley and Me, but Bad Dogs has some humorous stuff in it that gives it some credence. Maybe these are more interesting as part of a daily newspaper column but they were very unsatisfying compiled the way they were.
